Professor X wheeled himself into the X-Men conference room underneath the school. There was a sterile feeling here - all chromium. For good reason, though. He waited for the other X-Men to arrive. It was the beginning of a new school year, and he wanted to touch base.

Logan walked into the conference room and sat down by Professor X. "Morning. Jean's gonna be a little late. She had to take care of Jack." He explained, pausing halfway through taking out a cigar and putting it back. "I honestly don't know what to do about that kid. He won't talk to anyone, he won't look at anyone, and last night he tried to run away. I just brought him back." He sighed. Maybe Professor X had a suggestion, but if not, Logan was just glad to let it all out.

"Yes Logan, I know. And there is a solution I wish to discuss. Thank you for taking such care for the boy."
Professor X looked at the cigar Logan was taking out.
"Logan, my tolerance for your smoking in the mansion notwithstanding, continue smoking that in here, and you'll spend the rest of your days under the belief that you're a six-year-old girl.:
He watched Logan put it back.

"Yeah yeah six-year-old girl. I've heard you before." Logan smiled. "It's no problem, really. I figure I found him, so I gotta watch out fer him, right? Plus..." Logan thought and then continued. "Kid doesn't seem as freaked out around me as the others. I mean, besides when I chased him this morning. Then he kinda flipped." He smirked. "Also, I don't think he knows how to... run. He ran kinda... weird. Too fast, too careless. He really hurt himself. Like he didn't feel anything until he fell." At this point, Logan was more speculating out loud than actually talking to Professor X.

"What are you thinking Logan?"

Jean walked into the conferance room pulling off a pair of gloves. "Sorry - I was working in the lab." She caught sight of Logan - why did her heart skip a beat every time she saw him? She thought that was over and done with - especially after what she had done only a year or so ago.
She walked over to Xavier and gave him a little pat on his shoulder. "Good to be back together again" she smiled.

"If I knew, I'd tell you." Logan shook his head. He glanced up as Jean Grey came in. He smiled at her. "It sure is. Hey, how's Jack? He alright?" Logan was beyond upset with the kid, but he couldn't help but feel bad about running him down. He hadn't expected Jack to run like that.

"He'll be fine. He may not have your regenerative powers, but he's hardy. Thanks for trusting me." She smiled.
"What happened with him?"

"I dunno." Logan shrugged. "He ran away when he saw me, and he outdid himself. I think he pulled something. I know when I caught up to him, he just gave up, stopped moving. He was havin' trouble breathing, too. Like he just ran without thinking." He smiled back at her. WHen did he ever not trust her?

"This sounds to me Logan like it has something to do with mutant experimentation. Can you see any similarities between your experiences and his? Keep in mind, he has a mental mutation, yours is physical."

Logan shrugged. "I dunno. If I had to guess, I'd say the kid runs like a robot." He did feel that there were a lot of similarities between them. Jack was reserved, tended to stay away from people. Also, Jack had lost his memories, like Logan. Could it have been from the same kind of trauma? He felt a knot in his stomach at the thought of Jack going through something like that. "Poor kid. No." He refused to believe it. "No one would do that to a kid..." Even as he said it, he knew he was fooling himself. Those people were the scum of the earth. They'd do anything to anyone if it suited them. "I wanna help him remember, but what if... what if remembering it just makes it worse for him?" Logan shook his head. "What if he's better off not knowing?" He knew Jack had to remember eventually, but he didn't know if it was right, making him recall being a pawn in someone's scheme.

"They would do it to a kid Logan - they tried to do it to me." Jean moved next to Logan.
"Don't worry - the memories will come in time. Like you, we don't want to force them."

Dream made her way quietly into the room. She went over and sat down next to Professor X taking his hand as he placed it in hers. She and Xavier had a special relationship - they were very close, and understood each other in a special way. Dream looked at the other two. She was relatively new to the X-men, and while she was close to Jean, she still wasn't sure how Logan felt.

Rogue walked into the room after having just ended a simulation in the danger room. Thankfully, they were all on the same floor, so she didn't have to go too far. Out of instinct she walked over and sat in a chair a little further away from the others. She still wasn't to up to be around people. She, even after all this time, was scared of hurting someone.

"Don't be scared Rogue" Jean said directly to her mind. "You won't bite" Jean smiled. "Well, how is everyone?"
