Screech followed Xavier through the hallways to his office. "This place is bigger than I remember," he said, closing the door. "So, Scott's gone, huh? How did it happen?" He looked around, noticing that Xaviers office was the only thing that hadn't seemed to change over the years.

Screech was suprised. Jean... killed him? "B-but," he stammered, trying to find the right words, "but she... loved him. What the hell happened? Who the hell is Phoenix?!"

Charles sighed. "It's complicated Screech. A few years ago, Jean sacrificed herself to save us, including Scott. We all though she had died. But her mental abilities were far greater than even I had realized. She didn't die, she survived. But the whole thing took such a strain on her psyche that she was overwhelmed when her new abilities unleashed themselves. She couldn't control her powers. And, when she returned, her emotions were so powerful when she saw Scott again, that she killed him. Without meaning to. Purely with the force of her mind.
We believe that Jean holds the power typically referred to as the Phoenix force. Said to be the most powerful mental abilities capable of a mutant."

Purley with the force of her mind.... that seems powerful, Screech thought. Possibly even more powerful than the professor. "That's pure insanity, professor... but it's still believeable." He stared around, suddenly thinking how different the place would seem without Scott. "So... about me re-joining the X-Men... is it okay with you?"

Suddenly, Screech tensed up. He almost lost his balance... whatever he had just sensed, it was powerful.... but what was more, he recognized it. Knew it. Hated it. Harley. "Um... I have to go." He didn't want to just barge out of the room, but he knew there were other lives at stake,so he didn't mind.

Luke rushed out of the dorms and toward Professor X's office. Without stopping to even knock, he burst into the office, almost running into the man they'd met in the forest. Luke paused, but quickly composed himself and blurted, "Professor, Jack had some kind of seizure! They took him to the Lab! I- I don't know what's wrong with him."
