Emma couldn't believe she was here...teaching. It wasn't exactly her idea of a perfect situation. But at least she had Pearl here...and Door...and Dream. She sighed sinking down into her chair. All she needed was Pearl to trust her...and Luke. If she had the two of them, she could easily conquer Dream, end her.
She rested her elbows on her desk and stared at the door. Her eyes drifted to the clock. Fifteen minutes before they were scheduled to flood in here, the whole lot of young, naive mutants. How was she going to teach them about mutant history? She barely knew anything about it...save her own...and Scott's. How many nights had they stayed up in bed talking about their pasts? She pushed the thought from her mind. That was long past. All that was left was a blonde teenager with his gentleness and her beauty. At least there was something left of him.

Dream was the first one to walk into the room. When she saw Emma, she froze, her eyes wide. No one had prepaired her, or warned her that Emma was here. Dream looked like a deer caught in headlights. She tried to think of an illusion to create, to protect herself - but Emma knew all about her powers. Even if she created a wall of fire around her, Emma could still reach in and grab her. True, Emma would feel as though it were hurting her for a moment, but she knew it wouldn't really...

She played it cool. "Hello, Dream. Have a seat wherever you'd like." Emma smiled brightly at her. She wasn't going to let anyone know anything just yet. They'd all grow to like her, to trust her, maybe even pity her misfortunes. She'd get them all where she wanted them before she struck and took her prey.

"I'll stay back here" said Dream. She and Emma were old enemies. She and Magneto had been after her for years.

"Suit yourself," she sighed glancing out the window. Was she really cut out for being here? Sometimes she wondered if Magneto had been wrong to send her.

Pearl timidly pushed the door open. A class with her mother? This should be sufficiently awkward. She scanned the room: only Emma and Dream. "Great.." she sighed, picking the chair which would be furthest away from them both. Couldn't someone get here? Anyone but Dream?

Dream slinked to a seat in the back of the room. This was not good. Not good at all.

Door was listening from under the floorboards. She wasn't about to walk in a room with Emma. And she wanted to get Dream out of there!

"Door, I know you're here and hiding. You might as well come out and join us or you'll be counted absent." Emma sighed, doodling on her notepad, waiting on the other students. Why did they all have to be so darn stubborn? Sure, she knew Door, and was well aware of her mule-like quality; but nonetheless, this was school, class, not just a random conversation. Was she required to be present? If she continued such behaviour Emma would just have to take it up with Professor X.

Door had no intention of moving, and she was very concerned about the fact that the Professor hadn't talked to her, or Dream first. Had Emma given him a whole song and dance about her wanting to be the first one to speak to them?
But still, she was VERY worried about Dream. Door could take care of herself, but Dream...and they wanted a lot more from her than from Door, At the end of the day. She could see the way Emma was looking at Dream through the floorboards. So, she did the stupid, but nice thing.
Door lept up through the floor, marched right over to Dream in the back of the room took her hand, and they looked down at their books together. Door could tell that Pearl was a little jealous. She didn't want to hurt Pearl - she liked her, but she and Dream had a special connection, and she wasn't going to let anything happen to her.

So that was how it was going to be, hmm? Door was going to snuff her mother for her past and then just completely ignore her too? Fine! See if she cared!
Well..she did care. That was the part that sucked the most. She felt very alone. Emma wasn't really her mother. I mean she'd given birth to her, but she knew nothing about her. And she'd thought Door was her friend...but she wasn't really her friend, was she? She cared about that sub-human creature...Dream. Yes, she felt very alone.

Unfortunately Door wasn't telepathic. She wished she was. She reached out her hand, and lightly touched Pearl, giving her a smile.

"Oh...you extend your graces to me as well? Gee thanks." she huffed, looking the other direction. Really? Was she gonna pull that sh!t? Pearl wasn't in the mood at all.

"You know," whispered Door, "at some point you have to just decide to stop being such a little baby." Said Door. "Other people exist besides you, and if you don't want a friend, you don't have to have one."
She removed her hand, and put her arm around Dream.

"I thought I had a friend, but I must have been wrong." Pearl turned her back to Door. How dare she! Why would she just throw away the friendship they'd begun? It was Dream who was a baby...always wailing and whining...poor thing, can't love anybody wah wah wah. Pearl was boiling with anger. If she could kill her, she'd do it herself.
