It might have been pure instinct, but Luke felt an overwhelming guilt as he watched Dream's tears fall. He moved to the edge of the fountain, kneeling, and held out his hand to stop her from retreating. "No. I'm sorry." He smiled. "I know it's hard to be trusting when you've gone through what you have. I know the feeling."

Dream let out an agonized groan and moved back from Luke. "I...I can't! I'm so afraid Luke! I can't. Go...go to Pearl. You deserve each other. And she...she's been through so much too. It's ok..." but the tears began to fall harder. Dream couldn't help it.

Emma backed away, trying to stand and watch while not being noticed. She wanted to jump into Dream's mind, but she figured she'd recognize. So she continued with Luke:
"Pursue her. Convince her. She's only afraid. You can quell her fears!"

Dream looked at Emma, terrified at what she'd just revealed. But it was better this way. If Luke went to Pearl, nothing could happen.

"Good...good. Touch her, calm her, show her you care." Emma smiled, disappearing out of sight entirely but still watching. It was too good. It was perfect.
A thought struck her. She echoed Luke's words in Dream's mind. "Start reading their hearts!" Then she repeated it, changing the words, ""Read my heart!"

Dream did. But it wasn't the feeling Emma had hoped would be revealed. "Luke... I don't think you know what you want. And until you do, I can't do this." She pulled her hand away softly. "One minute you love Pearl, the next you like me. Then you're angry at me for being...well, ME. I...I can't. I think you need to figure out your heart..."

Luke was taken aback by the response. "Angry...?" He wasn't angry. He just wanted her to see the truth. But then, he refused to believe that truth, anyway. He stood up and stepped back. "...I'm sorry." He said in a flat tone, then abruptly turned and walked away.

Dream was almost more confused than ever. What did this mean? At least...at least he had made up his mind about something - even just to go thing about things.

Emma walked away frustrated. How could he just walk away? Then, a thought struck her. She hurried ahead of him, to the entrance way and waited.

Harley cleared the wall of the grounds easily, landing lightly on his feet. He looked around, still feeling Screeches presence... "Okay... where are you at?" He looked around some more, then noticed the entrance doors across the grounds from him. He smirked. "Okay... I'll come to you." He started to the doors.
