After leaving the classroom, Jack returned to his room. Sitting on his bed, he tried to remember the dream he'd had last night. In the dream, he was in a chair, strapped down. His hands were clenched on the arms of the chair, and he was surrounded by bolts of electricity. He could tell he was writhing in pain, and there were people watching him. But he didn't know who they were, or why they were hurting him.
He stared at his hands and concentrated. Nothing happened. He sighed and lay down, staring at the ceiling.

Luke, having ditched class, took his newfound leisure time to think about what had happened in the last week or so. He finally stood up and began pacing. He'd been picking on Jack a lot. He wasn't even sure why. Jack hadn't started anything. He sighed and stepped outside, then walked to Jack's door. Maybe if he just talked to him, everything would work out. He knocked lightly on the door and waited.

Jack sat bolt upright as someone tapped his door. Annoyed, but curious, he went over and opened it. Luke stood in the hallway, looking preoccupied. Jack suppressed the wave of fear that came standard with any appearance of the bully, and spoke in a whisper. "Yes?"

Luke rolled his eyes. "Let me in. I wanna talk to you."

Jack debated whether to block the doorway, but knew he didn't have the guts. So he stepped aside and glared at Luke as he entered the room.

Luke shut the door and walked into the center of the room. How the hell did one talk things over? He'd never tried it before. How was he supposed to start? He didn't feel like letting his guard down, so he started as he'd start any conversation with Jack.
"What the hell are you doing in here by yourself? You know lack of human interaction makes you crazy?"

Jack clenched his teeth, annoyed. "Maybe I like to have time to think. Maybe I, unlike you, enjoy using my brain once in a while."

Luke turned to face Jack, eyes narrowing. "Did you just insult me?"

Jack's eyes widened. "No." He'd let it slip without thinking. "I just meant... I don't need interaction..." He shrugged and eyed the door.

Luke walked toward Jack, but stopped when he saw him glance at the door. He didn't want to scare him off. It was just so hard to be civil. He sighed. "Just don't talk, then."

Pearl had stayed a fairly safe distance away from her Mother's classroom once class had ended, but she had noticed Jack linger and then return to his room. Her curiosity finally getting the best of her, she decided to pay him a visit. She gingerly knocked and opened the door, going straight in while talking, "Jack it's Pearl I had a--" she froze in her tracks seeing Luke in the room as well. Her eyes grew wide, and the breath caught in her throat. She felt her heart beating wildly inside her eardrums. She couldn't speak, only stare, pale as a ghost.

Jack clamped his mouth shut. Luke had never acted so strangely before. He was about to ask the bully what he was even here for when Pearl walked in and suddenly froze up. "Pearl?" He whispered and sighed, relieved someone was here to distract Luke.

Luke spun around and saw Pearl in the doorway. He wasn't sure whether to leave or just wait her out so he could talk to Jack. Annoyed, he turned to her. "Did you have something to say? We were kinda in the middle of something."

Her heart sank down to the pit of her stomach, and her eyes filled up with tears. "I had a question for Jack. I'm sorry. I wasn't aware someone else was in here. He's not usually one who enjoys company, especially not yours," she bit back, trying to choke down the tears before they started falling. She wanted to hate Luke so badly for how much she liked him, for choseing Dream, for not killing her in the process, for being such a jack@ss.

"No." Luke sighed and walked to the door, passing Pearl. "You talk, I can catch him any time." And with that, he walked out of the room. He made his way outside, wondering if he'd hurt Pearl's feelings. Half of him wated to go back and apologize. The rest said it was no big deal.
