It was a beautiful day, sunny with not a cloud in the sky. Dream was relaxing at the bottom of the large, deep fountain in the center of the school gardens. Her mermaids tail made ripples in the water occasionally. She tried to read, carefully so as not to tear the wet pages.

Door quietly approached the fountain, not wanting to scare the girl. "I'm sorry about the other day" Door said. "I actually think you're very sweet -they...they shouldn't have treated you that way. I know what it's like to be used, others...don't always."

The water rippled. A reply?

Will took a slow walk around the gardens. He had to concentrate hard not to use his speed to get around. He saw a girl staring into a fountain and talking into it. Will headed in that direction and saw a mermaid at the bottom. He didn't think that it could be real until he saw it move.

A tail flicked, and then a tiny, pale face surfaced. She was suprised to see Will there.

Will jumped as Dream's pale face broke through the water. He saw a book in the water. "You were reading?" He asked, confused. How could you read a book in a fountain?

"Well, they don't hold up too well, but I try to be careful when turning the pages, and I make sure to let them dry out."

"I see." Will nodded. He still didn't see how that worked. His basement had flooded when he was little and any of the book touched by the water were ruined. Maybe Dream had a special touch that protected the pages.

"I just have to be careful, and make sure it's a new book."

"I guess that makes sense." Will shrugged. He didn't know how it was possible that the pages weren't ruined after they were out of the water and dried, but he decided to go along with Dream.

"So..." she said, flicking her mermaid's tail. "What do you do?"

Will smirked, raising an eyebrow. "Could you be more specific?"

"Oh. Well, I'm not that proud of them, to say the least." He started. "I can summon objects out of thin air, as long as they exist, and I'm super fast." Will frowned.

"That's wonderful!" Said Dream. "Do they vanish one place, and reappear somewhere else?"
"What's your X-Men name? I bet you have a great one!"
