Pearl sighed. Oh well, Dream busted that. She began to walk away, brushing against Luke as she went. She leaned toward his ear and whispered, "If you're looking for trouble, come see me." Proud of herself, she smirked, swishing away.

Luke chuckled aloud. "What are you trying to do? Because all you're doing right now is amusing me." He grinned and glanced at Jack again. Why wasn't he paying attention? He heard Dream and turned to her. "No one's fighting, Dream." He heard Pearl whisper something in his ear and grinned at her as she passed.

Dream heard Pearl's whisper too. For some reason tears started to well up in her eyes. Of course Luke would go for Pearl. She was beautiful, and sophisticated with no troubles or worries. They deserved each other. Why did Dream have feelings for Luke? There was something in him that still scared her a bit. But she didn't want anyone to see her vulnerable like this. It was too dangerous and...embarrasing.
"All right then" she got out, then flew back to the fountain and dove in, the cool water washing away the tears that had finally started to run down her face."

Luke saw Dream go into the fountain. He went over and leaned over the wall. "Dream, come back out, what's wrong?" He didn't feel bad about letting his good side come out, now that they were away from the group.

Jack relaxed when Luke walked away. He looked at the blond boy who was still next to him. He'd never seen him before.

Pearl glanced back over her shoulder, noticing he didn't follow. That was ok. He would, but was he with Dream? Why? For the first time, she wanted to use her powers...for herself...she wnated to get inside his head and see what he was thinking...what he felt...was it for Dream?

Dream's head slowly popped back to the surface. "I don't know" she said shyly. "I'm acting rediculous. It's nothing to worry about." But there was still something sad, well, sadder than usual in Dream's eyes. Oh, if only Luke could read minds!

OOC: I've like fallen out of my own thread!  Dimitri eyed Luke as he went away but shrugged walking over to just sit under the tree in his human form. Sometimes he wished he could always be an animal. Wouldn't that be easier. They didn't have such strong emotions. They just lived in the now. He wished he could do that. He closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the tree truck humming a song his mother used to sing to him when she wanted him to got o sleep. he wished he was home. h He belonged there. He still didn't think he belonged here. There he already had friends. But here, he was good with people. But he was always too shy to start with to make friends. If given the change, and get past his shyness, he'd be all set with friends. |
